Mr. Eugene Ford "Gene" Brant 75 of Concord, NC passed away on Sunday, November 22,2009 at CMC-NorthEast in Concord. Born on October 24, 1934 in Wythe County, VA to the late William David Brant and the late Ruby (Vest) Brant. Also preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly Dawn Findley, granddaughter, Danielle Findley, brother,Jack Brant, and special brother-in-law, Donald Sterner. Gene was a graduate of Norfolk-Elkhorn High School in West VA. He worked in the coal mines in West VA until moving to Concord, after moving to Concord he worked for Kerr Bleachery ,and later retired from Collins & Aikman. Gene loved to hunt, work in his garden, and his yard, but his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. He was a very special husband, father, brother, and "Papaw". Gene was of the Baptist faith. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral home Concord on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 from 12:30 PM until 2 PM. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel Concord on Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 2 PM, with the Rev. George Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Survived by: wife of 32 years, Dorothy M. Brant of the home; son, Tim Brant and wife Judy of Concord; sister, Loraine Howell and husband Jack of Concord; brothers, John Brant of Concord; and Larry Brant of Wytheville, VA; step-daughter, Connie Short of Concord; step-son, Bobby trull and wife Bennie of Concord; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his special black cat “Smokey”. The family wishes to give a special heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff on the 4th floor Alzheimers Unit at CMC-NorthEast.
