Eugene "Gene" Franklin Earnhardt, 79, of Concord, NC died after an extended illness early Saturday morning, December 9, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.

Mr. Earnhardt was born Tuesday, September 20, 1938 in Concord, North Carolina to the late Milas Franklin and Nellie Virginia (Hurlocker) Earnhardt.

On July 18, 1970 in Concord, NC, he married his loving wife of 47 years, the former Linda Lee Biggers who survives.

He leaves behind, to treasure his memory, his devoted children, Jason E. (Amanda) Earnhardt of China Grove and Annmarie V. Earnhardt of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by his four year old grandson, Asher; his sister, Gail (Don) Linker of Concord and his loyal companion, Beau. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son, Lynn F. Earnhardt who died July 18, 1992.

Funeral services for Mr. Earnhardt will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at New Gilead Reform Church, 2400 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Concord, NC 28025 with Rev. Lawrence R. Bolick officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors. The family will receive guests at the church that afternoon from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mr. Earnhardt to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to New Gilead Church.

Gene will forever be missed by his loving and devoted family and many dear friends. May God grant him eternal rest.
