Eugene Rushing

Eugene “Gene” Rushing, of Unionville, NC, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011. Mr. Rushing was born June 14, 1922, in Union County to the late Marshall Dewey Rushing and Lillie Lou Hinson Rushing. He was a police officer for Mecklenburg County for 32 years. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Friday, November 25, at Antioch Baptist Church in Monroe. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at 2 pm at Charlotte Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Catherine Ruth Godfrey Rushing, of the home; daughters, Linda Medlin and husband, Gene, of Cornelius, Sue Litaker and husband, Michael of Kings Mountain, and Kathy McKeown and husband, William “Mac”, of Greensboro; sister, Romie Mae Simpson; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
