Eugene Allen Tucker, Sr., 94, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, the NC Veterans Home in Salisbury. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Friday, August 24, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Pastor Curtis Parker, will be held in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens. Eugene was born on July 25, 1918, to the late Charles Homer Tucker and the late Bertha Earnhardt Tucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Edith Ford Tucker; three brothers, Ralph, Homer and Fred Tucker; six sisters, Verna Cline, Iva Taylor, Edith and Muriel Tucker, Virginia Andrews and Yvonne Ritchie; and a daughter-in-law, Brenda S. Tucker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 – 1945 in the 45 Thunderbird Division. He served in Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and Germany. He received the following decorations and citations: American Theater Campaign Medal, Eamet Campaign Medal with Three Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, 76 HQ 15th Evac Hosp, 25 May 44, G0127, HQ45 31 Oct 44, Victory Medal. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan and avid gardener. He is survived by a son, Eugene Allen Tucker, Jr. of Concord and special friend, Nancy Key of Kannapolis: a daughter, Brenda Hahn and husband, Donald; three grandchildren, Lori McDonald and husband, Mike, Connie Helms and husband, Mitch and Lisa Cline and husband, Darrell; and six great-grandchildren, Garrett McDonald, Mark Helms, Casey and Ryan Blackwelder, and Brandon and Katelyn Cline. Verily, verily, I say unto you. He that heareth my word, and believed on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
