Eugene Watkins

Eugene Clayton Watkins, 98, of Albemarle, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at his home.

Eugene was born on September 17, 1924, in North Carolina to the late Fred Oris Watkins and the late Alma Watkins.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Eleanor Whatley Watkins.

Eugene loved spending time with his family. In his spare time he could be found in his shop working on projects of all kinds or reading a good book. He was a World War II Veteran and was a devoted  Mason for 76 years. He was a faithful member of Stony Hill United Methodist Church for 57 years. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Stony Hill United Methodist Church in Albemarle officiated by Pastor Kay Fry. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Survivors include daughter, Pam McDonald of Albemarle; sons, Clay (Melinda)Watkins of Albemarle and Guy Watkins of Lexington; 8 grandkids; and 11 great-grandkids.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly & The Uwharrie,960 North First Street, Albemarle, 28001 and to Stony Hill United Methodist Church, 28996 Stony Hill Road, Albemarle, NC 28001.
