Biography Eva Virginia Stilwell Dorton, 92 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away at her home on October 25, 2016.
Mrs. Dorton was born March 10, 1924 in Mecklenburg County to the late Robert Lee Stilwell and the late Nannie Lee McCraven Stilwell. She was also preceded in death by husband, Martin Lee Dorton; two sons, Robert Lee Dorton and Dwayne Dorton; and daughter, Barbara Louise Covington.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm - 3:00pm, Friday October 28, 2016 at Red Cross Baptist Church of Oakboro. The funeral service will follow at 3:00pm in the church sanctuary and will be officiated by Reid Rushing. Burial will follow at the Red Cross Baptist Church Cemetery at 112 W. Red Cross Rd., Oakboro.
At other times the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Darlene Rushing.
Survivors include daughters, Darlene Rushing and husband, Tom of Midland, and Wanda Shoe of Norwood; son, Howard Dorton of Oakboro; brother, Hugh Reid Dorton and wife, Diane of TX; grandchildren, David Earl Dorton, Melody Modlin, Martin Rushing, Tommy Rushing, Karen Baucom, Angela Rushing, Gary Hagler, Jerry Hagler, Candice Jenkins, Scottie Covington, Rodney Covington, Lisa Shaver, Misty Wheaton, Melinda Dorton, Teresa Dorton, and Robbie Dorton; and numerous great-grandchildren.
