Evans Caudle

March 1, 1924 — April 8, 2012


With loving memories and joy we announce that Evans L. Caudle of Midland has been called to other service by his Lord and Savior. Evans, born March 1, 1924 was the eldest son of the late Dallas and Essie V. Caudle of Midland. He graduated from Stanfield High School in 1942 and joined the US Navy during WWII. He served aboard the aircraft carrier Petroff Bay in the Pacific. Evans is survived by his three sons and their wives, Gregory and Margaret Caudle of Canton GA, Lanny Caudle of Midland, Tory and Cyndie Caudle of Alpharetta GA, five wonderful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sisters are Lorene Ledford of Midland, Sylvia Maness of Matthews and brother, Ed Caudle of Midland. Evans passed from this life peacefully on April 8, 2012 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. The family sends their thanks and many blessings to the ICU hospital staff for the wonderful care and love shown to him during his illness. We also thank the Woodhaven Court Assisted Living Center in Albemarle for their love and care during his decline in health due to Alzheimer’s over the past year. Evans leaves behind a legacy of faithful service to Mill Grove United Methodist Church in Midland where he served in leadership roles, Sunday school teacher and choir member for many years. He has also been active in the Midland Chapter #260 of the Order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge #218 of Midland and Midland Lions Club. He was a retired Postmaster of Midland, having been appointed by President John F. Kennedy in 1962. Visitation will be Friday, April 13 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. A celebration of life service will be conducted Saturday, April 14 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Jim Prichard and Rev. Arval Rushing at Mill Grove United Methodist Church, 13659 Hwy. 601, Midland. His body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Graveside Services will be conducted by Masonic Lodge 218 and will follow immediately in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mill Grove Methodist Church Playground Fund, P. O. Box 84, Midland, NC 28107. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Caudle family.
