Evelene Smith

Ms. Evelene Munson Smith, 86, of 6475 Nance Road in Midland, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 23, 2010 at CMC NorthEast. She was born on June 28, 1924 in Cabarrus County to the late William Monroe and Carrie Elizabeth Plummer Munson. A visitation will be held at Berea Baptist Church, 100 Berea Baptist Church Road, Stanfield, on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Berea Baptist Church on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Keith Austin and Rev. Brad Phifer officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will be at West Concord Cemetery. She is survived by daughters, Shirley Hornback, of Monroe, Joyce Hornback, of Stallings, Brenda Monday, of Valdese, and Judy Huneycutt, of Oakboro; sons, Samuel Smith, of Midland, Pauley Eugene Smith, of Stanfield, James Calvin Smith, of Midland, Charles Edward Smith, of Midland, and Douglas Smith, of Locust; two brothers and two sisters; 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband, Pauley James Smith and a grandson, Harold Eugene Hornback.
