Evelyn Christine Furr Almond, 87 years of age, of Locust, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2014 at her home. Evelyn was born August 5, 1926 in Stanly County, NC to the late Richard Elam Furr and the late Rettie M. Hatley Furr. She was also preceded in death by her four siblings, Joe, James, Flossy and Janie Furr. The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 pm Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Locust. The funeral service will follow at 4 pm in the church sanctuary officiated by Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace and Rev. Dr. Tommy Ross. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will be receiving friends at the home. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Wilbert Adam Almond of the home; her son, Jeff Almond and wife Betsy of Mooresville; two grandchildren, Matt Kemo of Banner Elk, and Emily Almond of Mooresville. Evelyn and her husband were owners of Almond Jewelers and Almond Photographers. She enjoyed oil painting, and loved flowers and her grandchildren. She was a faithful member and former Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church of Locust. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 320 S.
