Mrs. Evelyn Louise Christy Barbee 74 of 250 College Circle SW Concord passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Barbee was born on September 28, 1935 in Cabarrus County to the late John Edward Christy and the late Lottie Loretta McIntyre Christy. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, and four sisters. After Mrs. Barbee’s husband Lee retired from the Air Force they returned to their home town of Concord where they owned and operated three rest homes. Louise worked for several years at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all of her children. Mom and Dad celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary on December 25, 2009. Mrs. Barbee was a member of Home Bound Church and she had a personal relationship with her Christ. The family meeting place will be at the home. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Thursday, December 31, 2009 from 6 until 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel Concord on Friday, January 1, 2010 at 2 PM, with the Chaplain Karen Kaser-Odor officiating. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. Survived by: husband, Lee Alexander Barbee, Sr. of the home; daughter, Jeannie Barbee Osborne and husband Vernon of Conway, SC; son, Lee A. Barbee, Jr. of Kannapolis; daughter, Debbie Barbee Dion and husband James of Concord; sons, Brian Keith Barbee and wife Toni of Badin, and Robert Craig Barbee and wife Kathy of Concord; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren. Flowers are appreciated; monetary donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County 5003 Hospice Lane Kannapolis, NC 28083.
