Evelyn Smith

Evelyn Melissa Smith, 85 years of age, of New London, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at her home in New London.

Evelyn was born May 8, 1930 in China Grove, NC, to the late Clyde Butler Adams and the late Mary Kathryn Upright Adams.

She was also preceded in death by brother, Frank Adams.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday at 1:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Stoney Benfield. Burial will follow at the Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle.

Survivors include husband, Joseph Ray Smith, Sr. of New London; son, Joe (Lori H.) Smith, Jr. of New London; daughter, Chris Oxendine of New London; son, Keith Smith of New London; six brothers, Donald, Hubert, Clyde Jr., Larry "Freck", Tommy, and Billy Adams; three sisters, Janette McDonald, Joanne Haynes, and Carolyn Morrow; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Zachary) Sacchitella, Lisa (Brandon) Smith-Bogumil, and Jacob (Alexandra) Smith; two great-grandchildren, Samuel Smith and Arkham Bogumil.
