Evelyn Lela Stamper, 90, of Oakboro, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at her home.
Evelyn was born July 2, 1929 in Stanly County to the late Zeb Lee Hill and Mary Magdalene Hall Hill. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her sister, Frances Leopard; and brothers, Gerald Hill, C.L. Hill, and Mitchell Hill.
She was an active member of her church up until her health declined. Being a skilled quilter, she made many quilts for her family. Evelyn also worked at Wiscasset Mills for many years.
A private graveside service will be on Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 16920 Stokes Ferry Road, Richfield.
Survivors include husband, Elmer Franklin Stamper, Sr. of Oakboro; daughters Phyllis Levesque of Oakboro, and Gilda S. (Ed) Vincent of Rockwell; sons, Frank (Amy) Stamper of Denver, and Steve (Willa) Stamper of High Point; grandsons, Mark Levesque, Jayson Stamper, Matthew Stamper, Andrew Stamper, and Nicholas Vincent; and granddaughter, Cynthia Jackson. She is also survived by one great-grandson, Camdon Levesque.
