Evelyn Wenz

Evelyn Dorothy Wenz, after a long full life, passed away on her 98th birthday, Saturday, July 21, 2018.
Evelyn was born July 21,1920 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Harry Van Gorden and the late Julia Nanke
Van Gorden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Albert Wenz; her sister, Mildred Nancee
Van Gorden and granddaughter Lisa Harris Walters.
Evelyn met Bob at a Country Club dance and married him in 1940. She and Bob had two daughters,
Carolyn Wenz Walters and Linda Wenz Mikesh.
Evelyn was very artistic and talented. She graduated from Design school and worked with Fox Browney
and Edith Head in New York City. She had a very eventful life and many careers. She was also a Deputy
Sheriff in Dade County,Fla; worked for the Government at Dinner Key, Fla; she was a Paralegal and Director of
Blonder Tounge in New Jersey. The Wenzs lived in New York, Florida, New Jersey, North Carolina,South
Carolina and Georgia.

The family will receive friends from 9:00am until 11:15, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home.
The funeral Service will follow at 11:30am in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord officiated by
Rev. Edward Lenzer. Burial will follow at the St. James The Greater Catholic Cemetery at 2323 Gold Hill Rd.
The family and friends will be having lunch at The Bistro on Union Street in downtown Concord.

Survivors include daughters Carolyn and Linda; Sons-in-laws Thomas and Ronald; 4 Grandchildren and
5 Great Grandchildren. Plus a host of Nieces and Nephews that were the light of her life.
