Evelyn Young

Evelyn Junious Hatley Young, age 89 of Charlotte passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 at Carolinas Medical –Main in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Stanly County on Oct 8, 1920 to the late Daniel Vance Hatley and Ida Mae Morton Hatley. She was also preceded in death by her husband Orville Lee Young and 3 brothers, Marvin Hatley, Jimmy Donald Hatley and Dorton Hatley, 3 sisters, Peggy Branch, Gladys Rice and Geneva Laton. She was a graduate of Endy High School and will be most remembered for her work as a waitress at the Venus Restaurant in Charlotte but also worked at Nebels Hosiery Mill and Collins Department Store in Charlotte. She is survived by son Richard Lee Young and wife Alice of Waldorf, MD; daughter, Dianne Young Thomas and husband Rick of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Sherri Young Ross and husband Mike of Charlotte, NC.; brother, Joe Lloyd Hatley of Albemarle, NC; eleven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. Funeral service will be Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. Elder David Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Albemarle, NC. The family will meet at the home of Dawn Medlin, 28749 Canton Rd, Albemarle, NC
