Everard “Ed†Wright Loeb, age 95 of Albemarle, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center NE. He joins his beloved wife of 56 years, Rachel Burris Loeb, who preceded him in death on June 4, 2003. Mr. Loeb was born in Newark, NJ on September 2, 1916 to Dr. Alfred A. Loeb and Marian Reeve Loeb. He was raised in Boston, MA by his sister, Florence Loeb Rivard. Mr. Loeb was a sign painter by profession who practiced his art in Albemarle for over 60 years, being self-employed as Ed Loeb Signs. He took pride in his work and his family. He served his country in WWII, spending 31/2 years in combat in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Loeb received 2 Bronze Stars for valor along with many other decorations for his exemplary service to his country. He is survived by 2 sons, Robert B. “Robin†Loeb and wife Lana Hinson Loeb of Albemarle, Richard W. “Dick†Loeb of Cramerton; grandchildren, Stephanie Lauren and Jeffrey Wright Loeb both of Cramerton. There will be a private graveside burial at Stanly Gardens of Memory with military rites provided by the Stanly County DAV. A public memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 28, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Loeb’s 60 year membership to First Baptist Church, 202 N. Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or to the charity of ones choice.
