Everette Edwards, Jr

Everette Elijah Edwards, Jr., 71 years of age, of New London, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Bethany Woods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.

Mr. Edwards was born June 16, 1944 in Stanly County to the late Everette Elijah Edwards and the late Sadie Barbee Howell and also his stepfather, Clauda Howell. He was also preceded in death his wife Peggy Tucker Edwards, his daughter, Toni Edwards Coone, and first wife Cassandra Morton Edwards.

Mr. Edwards enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, April 11, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at 11:00 at the Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Mark Mabry. Burial will follow in the New London Cemetery at 331 Spring Street, New London.

At other times the family will meet at the home of a daughter, Angela Edwards, 12654 Cottonville Road, Norwood.

Survivors include his daughters, Cheri Edwards Hancock, husband Chris, Angela Edwards, significant other Jeremy Smith; four grandchildren, Dustin Coone, Alex Hancock, Andi Hancock and Landon Morris; sister, Sylvia Mabry and husband David.

Memorial may be made to The American Cancer Society, in memory of Toni Coone.
