Everette Lane Efird, 85 years of age, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 at his home in Stanfield. Mr. Efird was born April 4, 1927 in Stanly County to the late John Ira Efird, Sr. and Mattie Elizabeth Dunn Efird. He was a heavy equipment operator in Union County and a veteran of the U. S. Navy. The family will receive friends from 3 – 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 30, at Loves Grove United Methodist Church of Stanfield. The funeral will begin at 4 p.m., in the church sanctuary officiated by Rev. Jim White and Rev. Coy Blackman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be presented by the Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Myrtis Janet Comer Efird, of the home; his daughters, Janet Huneycutt of Locust and Cathy Hatley of Stanfield; his son, Tim Efird of Stanfield; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
