Everette Starnes

Mr. Everette Davis Starnes, 86 years of age, of Norwood, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at his home.

Everette was born January 24, 1928 in Stanly County to the late Lawson David Starnes and the late Florence Dix Starnes. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Eldora Thompson Starnes; daughter, Pearlie Florence Drye; daughter-in-law, Michelle Rushing Starnes; and brother, Jim Starnes.

The funeral service will be on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Porter United Methodist Church, with Rev. David McCauley officiating. Burial will follow at the Porter Community Cemetery. Afterwards, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall. There will be a 30 min state in the church sanctuary prior to the service.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Kendall Starnes of the home; daughter, Bonnie Starnes (Ted) Barbee of Oakboro; son, Michael (Linda) Starnes of Oakboro; son, Allen (Dianne) Starnes of Albemarle; son, Joel Starnes of Norwood; daughter, Zillian Starnes (Kenny) Bryant of Asheboro; daughter, Tammie Burleson (Gary) Helms of Oakboro; son-in-law, Benny Drye of Richfield; brother, Albert Starnes of Albemarle; half brother, Pete Starnes of Newton; stepdaughter, Linda (Charles) Harris of Norwood; stepdaughter, Josephine Kendall of Albemarle; grandchildren, Jonathan Drye, Janet Haigler, Randy Drye, Chrissy Hinson, Everette Little, Jeffrey Little, Carrie Foster, Chad Starnes, Shane Starnes, Matthew Starnes, Hailey Starnes, Jordan Starnes, Abby Burleson and Dillon Burleson; 19 great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and six step great great grandchildren.
