Frances Lorene Knowles Smith, 87 years of age, of Concord, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord.
Mrs. Smith was born January 6, 1929 in North Carolina to the late Phillip Oleander Knowles and the late Lucy Knowles.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jim Posey. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Concord.
Survivors include her son, David Smith and wife Aida; her son, Mike Smith and wife Diane; her daughter, Barbara Morgan and David Burkette; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
Lorene worked for many years in local nursing homes taking care of others. She retired from Ritchie's Nursing Home in Concord. Lorene loved country music and spending time with her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer's Association.
