Fay Laverne Alexander, 93, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Atrium Health Cabarrus Hospital in Concord.
Fay was born on March 7, 1931, to John and Gladys Fry. She grew up in Malden, Missouri and environs and attended Malden public schools. Fay went on to major in education at Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Missouri. She became an elementary school teacher and taught at schools in Malden, MO and later in Phoenix, AZ. After her children were grown, she returned to teaching pre-school in South Phoenix, AZ.
Fay enjoyed reading, playing bridge, collecting nativity sets, and chatting with friends and neighbors. She was co-den mother to Cub Scout Den 3 Troop 477 and her sons have fond memories of outings to make pizza at a local pizza restaurant and to sing Christmas carols at an assisted living facility. Other memories shared by her children include enjoying her homemade green chile and fudge, of laughing hysterically at her attempts to play video games, and of listening to her many stories.
Fay is survived by three children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, husband, and one daughter.
