Frances Matesich

Frances Helen Matesich, 96, of Harrisburg, NC, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

Frances was born February 15, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Stephen and Barbara Yagatich.  She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Joseph Stephen Matesich, Sr.; sister, Mary Sucha; brother, Mike Yagatich; sister, Barbara Yagatich; brother, Ray Yagatich; sister, Theresa Ehlinger; and three infant brothers.

Frances enjoyed baking, cooking and feeding her family.  She also loved gardening, flowers and birds.  Frances was a parishioner at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC.  Most of all, Frances was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

Survivors include daughter, Charlene (Keith Lord) Matesich of AK; daughter, Marilyn Matesich (David Neuser) Patterson of FL; son, Joseph Stephen (Mary Beth) Matesich, Jr. of NC; son, Mark (Melissa) Matesich of PA; grandson, Christopher Matesich of NC; granddaughter, Bethany (David) Kern of NC; great-children, Coulter Kern, Jeremiah Kern, Cameron Matesich, Lucas Kern, Lydia Kern; brother, Ronald (Peggy) Yagatich of PA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, NC, with the vigil at 7:00 pm, led by Deacon Joe Diaz.  The funeral mass will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church  in Charlotte, NC, officiated by Fr. Matthew Codd.  Frances will be laid to rest at The Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA.
