Francis Palmer Jr.

Francis E. Palmer, Jr. 73, of Norwood, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Facility in Salisbury.

Mr. Palmer was born October 1, 1945 in Stanly County to Francis Eugene Palmer Sr. and the late Mary Cornell Palmer.

Mr. Palmer joined the US Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam and Germany. He enjoyed carpentry and was a loving grandfather, a caretaker and loved his pet dog, Gibbs. He worked for 30 years for Oakwood Homes.

The family will receive friends 6:00PM - 8:00PM, Friday, December 14, 2018 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The memorial service will be on Saturday, December 15, 2018  at 1:00PM at First Baptist Church of New London, 111 E. Church Street, New London officiated by Rev. Brandon King.

Survivors include wife, Jane Ellen Palmer; son, Brian Kurt Palmer and wife Sarah; daughter, Rhonda Palmer Russell; grandchildren, Brittany Howell, Jacob Russell, Bryson Palmer, Regan Russell and Sawyer Palmer; sisters, Linda Smith and Mary Ellen Hudson; and brothers, Mitchell Palmer, Randy Palmer, and Jeffrey Palmer.
