Mr. Frank Mack Alexander, 73, of 8417 Idle Wheels Lane, Charlotte, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital Main, Hospice Unit. Born August 16, 1936 in Cabarrus County to the late Clarence Hubert and Viola Verble Alexander. Mr. Alexander attended Hartsell High School. He was a veteran of the US Army having served at Ft. Bragg, NC, with the 82nd Airborne Division 1954 to 1957. Served with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany 1958 to 1960. 82nd Airborne again from 1960 to 1964. Served in Germany with the 8th INF Division 1964 to 1967. Served at Ft. Bragg with 7th Special Forces 1967, served with the 5th Special Forces in Viet Nam 1968 to 1969. Served on Recruiting duty in Arkansas from 1969 to 1977, retired after 23 years of service. Frank was a past Master of Quapaw Masonic Lodge #730 AF & AM in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, member of Sahara Shrine Temple in also in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He was a member of Laurel Baptist Church in Charlotte. The family meeting place will be the home. A Memorial Service will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord on Monday, July 5, 2010 at 7 PM, with Rev. Jonathan Blankenship and Rev. Trooper Ferguson officiating. He is survived by: wife; JoAnn W. Alexander, whom he married on September 13, 1967; son, Stacy W. Alexander of Charlotte; daughter, Tamara Lynn Morrison and husband Stacey of Hernando, Miss; brother, Roy Alexander; 6 grandchildren.
