Frank M. Goewey Jr., 95, passed away May 3, 2020 due to complications of COVID-19 at Atrium Health Cabarrus,
formerly Northeast Hospital.
Born May 2, 1925, he was the son of Frank and Carrie (Scutt) Goewey. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel
(Moseley) Goewey; son, Frank M Goewey III; and 5 siblings, Lola, Everett, Carrie, Emma, Eldred, and Howard.
Frank was a veteran of the US Army, serving June 1943 – January 1947 as a driver for generals while serving in England,Italy, Germany and United States. He was in the Second Wave of Omaha Beach, June 6, 1944.
We will forever remember your gentle kindness, love, laughter and talents you shared. You set an amazing example for
us to follow as one of the greatest generations.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Goewey (Mallory), Sarasota, FL and Todd Goewey (Jennifer), of Terryville, CT; three
daughters, Joanne G. Brown (Mike) of Harrisburg, NC, Sarah Goewey of Farmington, CT and Deborah Mannello
(Carmine) of Port Orange, FL; sister, Carrie VanDuesen, Canaan, CT; 6 grandchildren, Kim, Melissa, Scott, Jennifer, Patrick and Matthew; 8 great-grandchildren, Beth, Lindsay, Erin, Brandon, Danielle, Jason, Carter and Elida; and 6 great-great-grandchildren, Natalia, Ava, Joseph, Audrey, Aleaha and Elijah.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at the Hartsell Harrisburg Funeral Home
Chapel, officiated by Revs. Toni-Ruth and Wesley Smith. Attendance will be limited to 50 people. Masks are requested.
