Fred Herman “Jack†Hancock, 88, of Norwood, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at CMC- Union. The graveside service, officiated by Rev. Ron Honeycutt, will be held at Norview Gardens, in Norwood, on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at 2:00pm. Family will gather with friends following the graveside service. Mr. Hancock was born on December 28, 1923, to the late Archie Hancock and the late Minnie Lee Hancock. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Hancock in 1996; sister, Ruth Hancock Lee. Fred is survived by two daughters, Fredericka Warr and husband William of Monroe, Connie Reid of Matthews; grandson, William Warr, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Matthews; sister, Carol Sanders of Albemarle; two great granddaughters, Kailee and Landyn Warr. He served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a life long resident of Norwood where he raised his family and worked until his retirement from Stanly Fixtures. Mr. Hancock was simple man that enjoyed working in his garden, growing vegetables and giving them away to family and friends. “Daddy Jack†was loved by many and his quick wit will be missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff at White Oak Manor in Waxhaw for their thoughtfulness and loving care.
