Fred Plyler

Fred Price Plyler, age 85, of Albemarle, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC. The memorial service will be on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, 126 West North Street in Albemarle. Rev. Elizabeth Ayscue will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service in the church parlor. Mr. Plyler was born in Stanly County, April 28, 1926, to the late Roy Daniel and Liller Viola Lowder Plyler. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Thelma Jewel Treece Plyler, in November 2011, and one brother, Leroy Plyler. He is survived by his two daughters, Fredia Malarkey and husband, Ned, of Richmond, VA., and Susan Jones, and husband, Mike, of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Megan Goodwin, Kathryn Pruett, Emily Jones, Scott Jones, Betsy Jones; and one great grandson, Nolan Pruett. A veteran of the US Army Air Force, Mr. Plyler worked as a supervisor at Wiscassett Mills for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and gardener, but his real passion was being with Thelma, the love of his life.
