Fred Tallent

Fred Eugene Tallent went home to be with his Heavenly Father Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 at CHS Northeast in Concord. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Fred was born March 19th, 1937 in Concord North Carolina to the late Martin Luther Tallent and Elsie Causby Tallent. Left to cherish many wonderful memories is his wife of 58 years, Margaret Durham Tallent, of Liberty, South Carolina. Fred was survived by his sons Michael Tallent, wife Beth and Jeffrey Tallent, wife Lisa. Grandchildren Jessica; husband Scott, Jacob, Justin, and Tiffany; husband James. Brothers James and Jerry. He was preceded in death by his brothers Johnny, Henry, Luther, Harold, Paul, Robert, and sister Pauline Baucom.
Fred was employed at Kimbrell’s Furniture for 56 years. He enjoyed spending time umpiring slow-pitch softball for many years. He also loved making new friends at his security job of 17 years at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. As a follower of Christ, he was an active member of the Gideon’s for 35 years. He was a charter member of Friendship Southern Baptist Church in Concord. He spent many hours helping to build the church. Fred’s most cherished pasttimes were spent watching his grandchildren play soccer, football, softball, basketball, and baseball as well as traveling with his wife.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 8th from 6-8pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 9th at 3 pm at Friendship Southern Baptist Church located at 80 Roberta Road, Concord 28027, officiated by Rev. Jesse Watkins and Rev. Bobby Tallent. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery, Kannapolis.
