Fred Thompson

Fred Lee Thompson, age 80 of 620 Central Avenue, Albemarle, NC 28001, passed away on October 15, 2010 at Britthaven of the Piedmont in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Monday from 6 to 8. Funeral service will be at Immanuel Baptist Church, where he was a member, on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Rev. Joe Smith will officiate and burial will be in Stanly Gardens of Memory. Military honors will be conducted by Stanly DAV, Chapter 12. He served in the US Army and worked in maintenance for Perfect Fit in Richfield. Born in Stanly County on May 08, 1930, he is the son of the late Hugh Martin Thompson and the late Mary Magdalene Huneycutt Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cora Nell Mullis Thompson of the home; son Sherrill Thompson and wife Daina of New London, NC; daughter, Cora Frances Bowden and husband Perry of Huntsville, Al; grandchildren, Seth Thompson and Dalton and Spencer Bowden; brother, Johnny Thompson of Concord; sisters, Bernice Lyerly and Nancy Wood both of Albemarle and Shirley Dorton of Concord; and 2 great grandchildren.
