Fred Thompson, Sr

Fred Melvin Thompson, Sr., 86, of China Grove, went to be with his Lord, April 27, 2012. Fred was generous, kind, hard working, and greatly loved by his family and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, from 3:30 until 4:30 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday at 5:30 at Zion United Methodist Church on Pee Dee Road, Mt. Gilead. Rev. Frank Thompson, his brother, will officiate and the burial will be in the church cemetery. Born February 28, 1926, he was a son of the late Charlie Washington Thompson and the late Dora Gladys Daniels Thompson. Surviving are his children, Fred M. Thompson, Jr. “Freddie”, Connie Thompson, and Ronald Thompson of China Grove; brothers, Frank Thompson and Paul Thompson; sisters, Ruby Davis, Geraldine Lippe, Peggy Deese, Henrietta Mabry, Ethel Davis and Doris McCrae.
