Gabriela Faith Austin

Gabriela Faith Austin, 18, of Marshville, NC went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Atrium Health Main in Charlotte, NC.

Gabriela was born October 17, 2006, in Matthews, North Carolina to Selina Joy Austin. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Boyce Lance Austin and Joyce Thomas Austin, admired uncles, Royce Vance Austin, Michael Dwayne Austin and James Clinton Thomas, and dear aunt, Gayle Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 4:45 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Hopewell Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church in Monroe officiated by Pastor Jason Demby and Pastor John Miller. Burial will be held at 2pm on Monday January 27, 2025, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Marshville, NC.

Survivors include mother, Selina Joy Austin of Marshville, NC; sisters, Caitlin Joy Austin of Marshville, NC, Brianna Lee (Juan) of Charlotte, NC; aunts, Michele Austin, Alana Payne both of Marshville, NC; uncle, Ricky Austin of Oakboro, NC; nephew, Malachi Contreras of Charlotte, NC; beloved boyfriend, Zion Haynes of Charlotte, NC; paternal grandmother, Emerita Monge; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Gabriela was truly an angel on Earth. She was filled with compassion, empathy, ambition, dedication, selflessness, and an abundance of silliness. She was an avid soccer defender with a mean slide tackle. She stepped out of her comfort zone and excelled in track and field as well, where she competed in shot put and the 55 meter dash. Gabriela aspired to become a Clinical Oncologist. Her mission for her future was to save lives. As an organ donor, she was able to save five lives and improve a countless number of lives through tissue research. Gabriela was a senior at Piedmont High School, and was set to graduate with the class of 2025 with a 4.36 GPA. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Jungle on the Move Club, Break the Silence Club, and Vice President of the International Club. She was accepted to East Carolina University, but was still awaiting to hear back from numerous colleges.
