Gary Godwin

Gary Gene Godwin, age 56, died on Thursday, November 10, 2011, in his home at 32404 Pennington Road, Albemarle, NC. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Saturday, November 19, from 6pm until 8pm. Born July 30, 1955 in Clinch County, GA, he was the son of the late Bobby Gene Godwin and of Mary Sheffield of Waycross, GA. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter Lindsay Carter and her husband Harrison, of Albemarle; his brother Don Godwin, of Albemarle; and his sister Nancy Piquant, of SC. Gary, the former Director of Animal Control in Stanly County, spent most of his life working with and caring for animals. His beloved rescue dog Tillie survives him. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Godwin family.
