Gary Morton

Gary Wayne Morton, 67 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

Gary was born August 19, 1949 in Stanly County to the late Ralph Columbus Morton and the late Flora Geraldine Furr Morton. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Tony & Jerry Morton.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. James Lopes, will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Oakboro Church of God, 712 N. Main St., Oakboro. He will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow at Jerusalem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Route 2, Polkton. At other times, the family will be gathering at the home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Wanda Ann Helms Morton of the home; sons, Lanny Morton of Oakboro, Bobby Morton and wife Cherri of Norwood; grandchildren, Wanda Morton of Norwood, Jessie Morton of Oakboro; brothers, Darrell Morton and wife Linda of Oakboro, David Morton and wife Nancy of Oakboro, Roger Morton of Albemarle; sisters, Mary Pennington and husband Jeff of Albemarle, and Linda Morton of Charlotte.
