Gary Shore

Gary Wade Shore, 67 of Midland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 surrounded by family at his home.


He was born August 29, 1946, in Winston Salem to the late James and Ida Watkins Shore. He was also preceded in death by his brother, John Shore.

Gary was a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer and worked in private investigation, but spent the majority of his career in Loss Prevention at Harris Teeter.


His gregarious nature, positive spirit and genuine Christian love of people were evident in all areas of his work and personal life. He had such a love for music and singing - it was his passion. He could sing a flawless version of Elvis, including signature trademarks, that got everyone all shook up!

Above all, his greatest love was for God, his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family.


Gary is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Cheryl Z. Shore of Midland, daughters; Angela S. Laye (Kevin) of Belmont, NC and Jessica S. Blinde (Neal) of Charlotte, NC, son; Brian S. Shore (Brittni) of Charlotte, NC, granddaughters; Caitlin, Arden, Norah and Lacie, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws he loved as his own, family and a host of loving friends.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 5 pm at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 6050 Hickory Grove Road, Charlotte, NC 28215. The family will receive friends following the service.
