Gaylan "Goose" Harold Barber, 66, passed away suddenly Monday, September 7, 2020 at his home in Concord.

Goose was born September 24, 1953 in Rhode Island to James Barber and Betty Russell Barber.
He was preceded in death by his father James Barber.

He lived most of his life in Atlanta, NY. On November 25, 1988, he married Verna Wheaton. He realized a life long dream 4 years ago when he and Verna moved to North Carolina.
During his career Gaylan worked for Meyers Farms, Kreider Trucking, Gary Clark Trucking, Dyckman Farms, Jim Wallace Farms and Kanaval's Gravel Pit. After retiring from the Town of Cohocton Highway Department Goose enjoyed  working for Wolcott Farms and Almond Farms. Goose was a man who worked hard, but also loved spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of the Hatch Hose Fire Company in Atlanta, NY.

Goose had a soft spot for his dogs, Herk, Joise, Dom, and Buddy, who will greatly miss him.

Survivors include wife, Verna Diana Barber, children: Christa( Dave) Inzinna, Meredith (Bill) Weidman, Melissa (Steve)Waldoch, and Kevin Dewey. Grandchildren; Kirsten Schenk, Shelby and Emily Inzinna, Jon and Jacob Weidman, and Hailey and Hannah Dewey.  Great Granddaughters; Isabella and Riley Jett. Siblings: Mike (June) Barber, Gary Barber, Tom(Patty) Barber, Paula Wheaton, and Al (Vicky) Barber. Brothers and Sisters in law; John Wheaton, Della Ward, Rose(Steve) Parks, Ted Wheaton, and Anna (Paul) Fuller. Nieces and Nephews; Michael(Casey), Tyler, Jordan(Lisa), Ashley(Eric),Erin,Rachel (David), Ryan, Alisha (Justin), Ashton(Matt), Mickey, Lori(John), Jennifer, Robin(Nick), Tricia,Tera, Keith (Brandy), Lisa (Joe), Wanda, Terry, and Bruce. Several great nieces and nephews. Also great friends and mentors Joe and Phyllis Meyers who he had the utmost respect.

A Memorial service will be held at the Hatch Hose Fire Co. in Atlanta, NY on September 20, 2020 at 1 O'Clock in the afternoon.
