Mr. George “Junior” Barringer, Jr., 76, of Concord, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on June 11, 1947 in Concord, NC to the late Ethel Kepley Barringer and George E. Barringer, Sr.
Junior was a graduate of Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, NC. He pursued a career in tractor equipment sales beginning at Troxler Equipment in Concord, NC. He later went on to work at Mid-South Tractor Company in Salisbury, NC before joining James River Equipment in Charlotte, NC which he retired from in 2013 after 19 years. Junior loved working and loved his co-workers, especially Brandon and Ron.
Junior had a sense of humor and could make anyone laugh with his charm and fun presence.
Junior was an active member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in Concord, NC until his COPD kept him from attending.
One of Junior's greatest joys was spending time with his girls which includes wife, Betty, daughters, Kim & Amy, granddaughters, Amethyst, Ashlyn, and Kylie, and greatgranddaughter, Aubrey. They shared many memorable times with each other, and Junior was always acting up and cutting up to make all of them laugh and smile.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Halsey Barringer, his two daughters, Kimberly Barringer Breuer (Dan) and Amy Barringer Hartz (Dan McDonough); granddaughters, Amethyst Hartz Denney, Ashlyn Breuer and Kylie Breuer; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Denney; siblings Sharon Barbee (William), Patricia Robinson (Kenneth), Edward Barringer (Terry), and David Barringer (Vicki Gee); along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to our family who has lovingly and willingly spent hours sitting with Junior, helping around the home and just handling anything that was needed. Most notably, his sister and brother-in-law, Patty & Ken Robinson; and brother, Ed Barringer. They’ve been instrumental in his care, and we cannot ever say thank you enough.
The family would also like to extend thanks to Cornerstone Health and Hospice of Cabarrus County who were saviors in helping us follow Junior’s wishes at being home in his recent decline, most notably Rina and Linda. We know Junior would also want us to thank Dr. David M. Cody and Dr. Patrick Kelly and their staff who he grew to love and trust in his care fighting COPD. He thought of you as his family too.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Emily Lemoine. Following the service, the family will greet friends and family in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in his memory.
Let us hold onto the memories we shared with him and find comfort in the love and joy he brought into our lives. We will miss you so dearly.
