George Burris

George Olin Burris, 77, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

George was born June 27, 1944 in Locust, North Carolina to the late George Worth Burris and the late Viola Mae Burris.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Friday at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Darrell Huneycutt and Rev. Danny Laws. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St. Albemarle.

George was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to all.  George liked working hard and worked construction and did masonry for 48 years.  Some of his favorite pastimes was eating Jay's Downtowner, and always enjoyed his daily cups of coffee.  He attended South Albemarle Baptist church.  George was also a member of the Masons, at lodge 348 of Albemarle for 35 years.  He was a humble family man who loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family the most.  George love the Lord with all his heart and served him until his last day.

Survivors include wife, Joyce Hatley Burris of Albemarle, NC, sons, James (Sue) Monroe Burris and George (Lynn) Travis Burris; daughter, Joy Yevette Burris; grandchildren Kirsten Laws, Abree Shields, Paige Burris, Blair Burris, and Travis Olin Burris; great-grandchildren Josten Laws, Kinleigh Laws, Laiken Shields, Rilyn Shields and Everly Spradley.
