George Groves

George Ernest Groves, age 67 of 228 Anderson Grove Church Road, passed away on May 29, 2011 at home in Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Anderson Grove Baptist Church in Albemarle on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 from 1pm until 2pm. The funeral service will follow at 2pm with Rev. Ron Honeycutt and Rev. Yates Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Stanly Gardens of Memory with military rites provided by the Stanly County DAV. Mr. Groves was born in Duplin County, NC to the late Perry David Groves and Alice Virginia Merritt Groves. He is also preceded in death by his son, George Ernest Groves, Jr and a brother, Glenn Groves. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Lynn Arney Groves of the home; daughter, Tracy Groves of Albemarle; brothers, Jerry Groves of Burgaw, NC, Dallas Groves and wife Brenda of Trenton, NC; sisters, Alice Morse of Raleigh, NC, Joyce Pope of Rocky Point, NC, Janet Whitehead and husband Billy of Hampstead, NC. Mr. Groves was employed with the City of Albemarle in the maintenance department. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001 or the Anderson Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2225 E. Main Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Groves family.
