Lewis Blackwelder

Lewis "Whitey" Blackwelder, 77, of Concord, NC passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at Pruitthealth-Town Center in Harrisburg.  

Whitey was born September 12, 1945 in Concord, NC to the late Glen "Gundy" Blackwelder and the late Evelyn Irene Barringer Blackwelder. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alice Blackwelder.  

Survivors include his son, Chris Blackwelder and wife Crystal of Locust, NC; his daughter, Shelly Nesbitt and husband Marc of Concord, NC; granddaughters, Summer Blackwelder, Brianna Harwood and Maci Harwood; and sister, Myra Cook and husband Steve of Salisbury, NC.  

Whitey graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1963 where he was a standout basketball player.  He was a Ford man who loved working on cars and watching NASCAR.  Whitey enjoyed gardening and spending time with his granddaughters.  He will be truly missed by all those who knew him and loved.  

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Friday, June 9, 2023 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord, 460 Branchview Dr., Concord, NC 28025. The graveside funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm at Roberta United Methodist Church Cemetery at 3925 Cochran Road, Concord.
