George Maxwell

George Wallace Maxwell, 91, of 5170 Zion Church Rd., Concord passed away on Monday, November 28, 2011 at his home in Concord. Born on December 10, 1919 in Cabarrus County to the late George Maxwell and Pauline Seamone Maxwell Hartman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Love Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell was a veteran of WWII, Army 124th Infantry. He served in New Guinea; Sou Philippines; Lyzon and received 5 bronze service stars, Purple Heart, Pacific Theater Campaign Medal, and American Theater Campaign Medal. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow in the Chapel in Concord on Thursday, December 1, 2011, burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park Cemetary with the Rev. John Ronald Hartman, Rev. Rodney Quesenbury officiating. At other times the family will meet at the residence, 5170 Zion Church Rd., Concord. Survived by: son, George Jr. Maxwell of Concord; daughter, Barbara Jean Lowder of Concord; brother, John Hartman of Concord; grandchildren, Bobbie Maxwell Higgins, David Maxwell, Amanda Lowder, and Amy Lowder Pollock, great grandchildren Bailey Maxwell, Molly Higgins, Cecilia Higgins, George Higgins, Ashley Puckett, Heather Puckett, Katie Pollock, Kayla Pollock, and Caylee Lowder.
