George Stikeleather, Jr

George Lester Stikeleather, Jr., 77, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville.

Mr. Stikeleather was born May 3, 1936 in Rowan County to the late George Lester Stikeleather Sr. and the late Violet Faggart Stikeleather .

The family will receive friends at New Hope Worship Center on Friday, April 18, 2014, from 9:00 until 10:00 am. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Dale Jenkins, will follow at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Trudy Johnston Stikeleather of Concord; two sons, Neil Stikeleather and wife Lauren of Harrisburg and Berry Stikeleather of Concord, NC; and three grandchildren, Sydney, Sam, and Nick Stikeleather.

A lifelong resident of Concord, he was a teacher for over 40 years, teaching at Long School in Concord until 1965 and then teaching at East and South Rowan High Schools until earlier this year. He is best known for officiating at high school athletic events, including football, basketball, and baseball, for over 40 years. He is well known for teaching drivers' education.
