Gertie Estelle Beachum, 82, of Albemarle, gained her wings on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
Gertie was born January 19, 1938 in North Carolina to the late William Asbury Biles and Ethel Thompson Biles.
She was also preceded in death by husband, Clyde Benjamin Beachum, and son, Ward "Buster" Torrence, daughter in law, Patricia Mauldin, sisters, Onnie Mae Simpson and Nellie Norstrand, brothers, Hoyle Biles, Grover Biles, Melvin Biles, Pet Biles, Jason Biles, Robert Biles.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 12:30 pm at Stanly Gardens of Memory in Albemarle with Graveside Service following at 1:00 pm. officiated by Rev. Mickey Howard. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle, NC.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Mary Crisco and brother, Nester Biles of Albemarle, and her children Bobby (Hilda) Eury of Georgia, Sue (Steve) Sanders, Loyd (Carol) Mauldin of Albemarle, Terry Mauldin of Albemare, David Mauldin, Angel (Tony) Treece. She had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren whom she cherished with all her hearts, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Some of Gertie's favorite names were Mama, Ma, Sis, Grandma, Nanny, Granny, and Drama Mama. Gertie worked 30 years for E.J. Snyders. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially around the holidays, she enjoyed shopping at thrift stores and eating at Golden Corral and Blue Bay. Her favorite pet was her poodle, Tiny.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hartsell Funeral Home P.O. Box 7, Albemarle, NC 28002 for the funeral expenses of Gertie Beachum.
