Gertrude Hinson

Gertrude "Gertie" Whittington Hinson, 91, of 348 Splicewood Avenue Concord passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2011 at her home. She was born on November 25, 1919 in Union County to the late Archie Elias and Essie McCraven Whittington. She was also preceded in death by her husband Rubin Lawson Hinson, son Jerry Lawson Hinson, Sr., and brothers Claudis Lee, Bill, Grady, Lewis, Earl, Clifford, and Gene. Gertrude was a CNA and retired in 1973 from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, now known as CMC-NorthEast in Concord. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 7 until 9 PM. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord Chapel on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 11 AM, with Rev. Fred Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. She is survived by: son, Johnny M. Hinson & wife Mildred of Concord; brother, Howard Whittington & wife Bonnie; four grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
