Giles Medlin

Giles Emmett Medlin, 87, of Marshville, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at his home.

Giles was born January 10, 1934 in North Carolina to the late George Washington Medlin and the late Esther Helms Medlin.
He was also preceded in death by wife, Pat O'Dean Medlin; sisters, Irene Stegall, Vashti James, and Shirley Morgan; and brothers, Richard Medlin, Jarvis Medlin, Raymond Medlin, and Smith Medlin.

The graveside service will be on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Monroe officiated by Rev. Justin Nash. Giles will lie-in-state in the sanctuary at Shiloh Advent Christian Church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Shiloh Advent Christian Church Cemetery at 3601 Sikes Mill Rd., Monroe.

Survivors include children, Phyllis Drake (Jimmy), Bonnie Tomberlin (Terry), and Ricky Medlin, all of Marshville, NC, and Cathy Rushing (Myron) of Stanfield, NC; grandchildren, Brian Rushing, Leslie Martin, Angie Wallace, Kelly Hinson, Kevin Rushing, David Tomberlin, Scott Drake, Emily Thomas, Millie Lowman, and Sarah Lambert; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Herman Medlin (Mercile); and sisters, Linda Yow (Louis) and Mary Simpson.

Giles was a quiet man who loved gardening, tractoring, caring for his cows, and his work, but most importantly he loved his family and spending time with them.
