Gladys Eury

Gladys Geraldine Smith Eury, 83, of Oakboro, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home. Ms. Eury was born June 13, 1929 in Stanly County to the late Claude Monroe Smith and the late Viola Victoria Williams Smith . She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Eury; and son, Tony Eury. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, June 12, 2013. The funeral service will be Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Red Cross Baptist Church, with Rev. Garry Baker and Rev. Marvin Honeycutt officiating. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home. She is survived by sons; Jeff Eury and wife Peggy, Darrell Eury and wife Betty, and Roger Eury, all of Oakboro; Clarence Odell Eury and wife, Sheila of Concord; Lamar Eury and wife Crystal of Florida, Clay Eury and wife Pam of Kansas; daughter in law, Debbie Eury of New London; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy and Melton Smith, both of Oakboro, Kenneth Smith of Winston Salem; and sister, Mildred Shaver of Oakboro.
