Gladys Almond Mauldin, 84, of Richfield, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Gladys was born October 30, 1929 in Stanly County to the late Will Miller and the late Rilla Hunt Miller. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Junior Almond; son, David Eugene Almond; brother, Luther Miller; and sisters, Ruby Lowder, June Castor, Nora Lee Truett and Willie Mae Yow. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Toney Parsons, Rev. Jody Almond and Rev. Steve Jackson will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 23, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Gold Hill, 16141 Old Beatty Ford Road, Gold Hill. Burial will follow at Dunns Grove Baptist Church cemetery, 33803 Ridge Street, Albemarle. She is survived by her husband, James Mauldin of Troy; daughters, Linda Simpson of Albemarle and Myra (Ted) Garris of Richfield; son, Gary (Jackie) Almond of Richfield; brother, L.C. Miller of Albemarle; sister, Lynn Smith of Albemarle; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
