Gladys Shugar

Gladys Poplin Shugar, 86, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Woodhaven Court in Albemarle.

Gladys was born April 18, 1931 in Oakboro to the late Claude Pernay "Nay" Poplin and the late Sara Isabell Huneycutt Poplin. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jim and Bill Poplin; and sister, Pauline Austin.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 23, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by her son, Terrell Lambert. The burial will be at Oakboro Cemetery, 1397 North Main Street, Oakboro.

She is survived by her son, Terrell Lambert and wife, Kandie of China Grove; grandson, Nathanael Lambert of China Grove; sister, Penny Tucker and husband, Tommy of Oakboro.

Gladys was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Albemarle. She was very artistic and creative, and loved to do crafts and garden.
