Glenn Schmidt

Glenn Fredrick Schmidt, 74, of Mt. Pleasant, NC, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2013, at the Brian Center, Concord. No formal services will be held but the family will be meeting at his home. Born, June 10, 1938 in Terrytown, NY, he was the son of the late Fredrick Schmidt and the late Vera Watson Schmidt. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Mary Alice Shue Schmidt of the home; sister-in-law, Barbara Newton; sons, Glenn Schmidt, Jr. of Newport Richey, FL, Randall Schmidt of Wake Forest, NC, Gary of St. Petersburg, FL and Greg Schmidt of Germany; stepsons, Floyd Furr of Nokesville, VA, and Richard Furr of Marshall, VA; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and his devoted dog, “Taffy.” Mr. Schmidt was a veteran of the US Coast Guard. He was employed as a demonstrator for the grocery industry. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
