Gordon Wilson Wright, 85, of Concord, passed away Friday, July 29, 2022, at Mount Pleasant House.

Gordon graduated from Texas Tech and Baptist Bible College. He also studied at Texas A&M and the University of Missouri. He was a missionary in Ethiopia for many wonderful years. In 1973, he received special recognition and honors from the imperial Ethiopian government for founding elementary and literacy schools in remote areas. Upon returning to the States, just before the Communists overthrew the government in Ethiopia, Gordon earned an M.S. from Bob Jones University. In 2001, after 21 years of service in various administrative and teaching roles, Gordon retired from Northside Christian Academy. He was a faithful member of Northside Baptist Church, where he served in the children's and youth ministries. After retiring, he enjoyed working part-time, helping his brother-in-law, Dennis, at Carpenter Industries of Concord. Much enjoyable leisure time was also spent with his beloved family and grandchildren, traveling, reading, and tending to his roses and garden.
Gordon loved his family and his devoted wife with a deep, steadfast affection for 44 years. Above all, he loved his Lord and served Him with a heartfelt passion. There was a real desire to endeavor with God's help to be a living example of the teachings of Jesus Christ every day.
