Grace Blackwelder
February 2, 1916 — February 11, 2017
Grace Eudy Blackwelder, 101 years of age, of Concord, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at home in Concord.
She was born February 2, 1916 in Mecklenburg County to the late Wilson Thomas Eudy Sr. and the late Sarah Frances Hartsell.
She was also preceded in death by husband, Jay William Blackwelder; son Paul Dexter Blackwelder; daughter, Linda Blackwelder Tucker; grandson, Jeffery Dexter Blackwelder; two brothers, and six sisters.
She was the oldest member of Roberta United Methodist Church and a member of the Ruth Hudson Sunday school class. She received the Life Achcievement Award for her many years of service and dedication to the church in 2010. She was an avid Tarheel basketball fan.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 1:00 pm at Roberta United Methodist Church in Concord officiated by Rev. Jim Church, and Rev. Dr. Carl Fisher, preceded by a 30 minute state. Burial will follow at the Roberta United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pall bearers will be grandsons: Kevin Hardister, Terry Hill, Wesley Walker, Britt Walker, Donald Tucker, Chris Tucker, Kenneth Blankenship, and Casey Shanahan.
Survivors include daughters Gail (Andrew) Walker of Concord, NC; Joyce (Nelson) Hardister of Concord; Ann (George) Hill of Concord, NC; daughter-in-law, Jenoal Greene Blackwelder, 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roberta United Methodist Church building fund: 3925 Cochran Rd., Concord, NC 28027.
