Grace Morris

Grace Barringer Morris, age 75 of New London, NC, passed away on September 10, 2010 at Carolina’s Medical Center in Concord. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home – Albemarle, Sunday, September 12, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be Monday, September 13, at 4:00 pm at Bethel United Methodist Church in New London where she was a member. Rev. David Nolan and Rev. Boyd Joyce will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Born in Stanly County on May 05, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Roy Glenn and Margie Pauline Thompson Barringer. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Harold Morris who passed away in 2005. Grace Morris is survived by her three daughters: Ann Twigg of Myrtle Beach, SC, Sherri Sherrill and husband Stacy of New London, NC, Suzy Shue and husband Wayne of New London, NC . Six grandchildren: Hayley and Elizabeth Twigg, Hunter and Hannah Sherrill, Taylor and Trevor Shue and two sisters; Ruth Brisco and husband John and Helen Smith both of New London, NC. Grace was a dedicated member or Bethel United Methodist Church, where she will be remembered as a zealous leader in her church activities which included, mission work, UMW, Administrative Board, Trustee Chairman, Charge Conference, choir, Sunday School teacher, and Counsel on Ministries. She was a retired teacher’s aide at New London Elementary School.
